Valentine's Day letter

A Valentine's Day letter worth keeping

A card says the printed bit. A letter says the rest. Write yours this Valentine's Day — a few honest lines, a photo, your two names — and put it on a brick on the Wall of Forever, where it won't end up in a drawer.

How to write a Valentine's Day letter

Forget the big speech. The Valentine's letters people keep are short and specific:

  • Start with a moment. Not "I love you because…", but the evening it hit you.
  • Say one thing you have never said. The small habit you noticed, the thing you would miss.
  • Talk about this year. What you got through, and what you are looking forward to.
  • End simply. Your name, theirs and the date.

Then read it out loud. If a sentence sounds like a card from a shop, cross it out and say it the way you would say it to them.

Lines to start from

  • Fourteen Februaries in, and you still steal the duvet. Keep it.
  • I didn't know this was what I was looking for until you sat down across the table.
  • Thank you for this year. It wasn't easy, and you made it feel as if it was.
  • You make an ordinary Tuesday the best day of the week.
  • Happy Valentine's Day. Same table next year?

What else to put on a Valentine's brick

  • Your two names

And the date you met, if you both agree on it.

  • A photo

The first one of the two of you, or the newest.

  • The song

The title only. They will hear the rest.

  • The private joke

One word that makes no sense to anyone else.

  • A promise

Small and keepable: breakfast in bed, once a month.

  • Next February

One line about where you will be next year.

The QR card

A card with only a code

Print the QR card — nothing on it but the code and one line, For you — and leave it under their coffee cup on the morning of the 14th. They scan it, and your words appear.

That is a QR love letter: the card goes in a pocket, the words stay on the wall.

Why put it on the wall

Valentine's cards go in a drawer, and then in a house move. A brick keeps the letter on an endless wall with its own link, so you can both open it next February — and the one after.

Your brick

1 brick · €9

Each brick you add is €2, and past 6 just €1 — bigger bricks cost less per brick

Nothing is charged until you have chosen its spot.

How long should a Valentine's Day letter be?

Short. A few honest lines read better than a page of things you think you should say.

Can I sign it, or keep it anonymous?

Either. The brick shows only what you wrote, so if you don't sign it, the wall won't say who it is from.

How do I give it to them?

Send the link, or print its QR card and leave it somewhere they will find it on the 14th.

Can other people read it?

The wall is public, so anyone could come across the brick. Write what you would be glad for them, and anyone else, to read.

Will it still be there next Valentine's Day?

Yes. The brick keeps its place on the wall indefinitely, paid once.

How much is it?

From €9 for a single brick, paid once.

Say it this year, keep it every year

A few honest lines, on a wall that stays.
