Letter to Your Future Self

A letter to your future self, sealed until the day you pick

Write to the person you'll be in five years, or in twenty-five. Seal it on the Wall of Forever and pick the day it opens. We email you on the day — and from then on, anyone can read it.

Write your letter

How it works

  • Write it. Where you are, what you're worried about, what you hope you've done by then. Add a photo if you like.
  • Pick the day. Any day from tomorrow to fifty years away. It opens at midnight, your time.
  • Seal it. It goes on the wall under a wax seal. Until the day, nobody can read it but you.
  • Open it. We email you on the day. The seal breaks and the letter opens — for you, and for anyone who visits the brick.

What people write to their future selves

  • Where you are now

The job, the flat, the people you see every week.

  • What you're afraid of

So you can see how much of it ever happened.

  • A promise

Run the marathon. Call your sister. Learn the song.

  • The small stuff

What a coffee costs, what's on the radio, what you're reading.

  • Advice you'll need

From someone who knew you before.

  • A question

Did you go in the end? Was it worth it?

Why not just an email

Inboxes change, accounts close, and fifty years is a long time for an email to wait. A brick keeps its place on the wall. Even if the address you gave us is long gone, its link and the QR code on your certificate still open it.

And the moment you seal it, it gets a fingerprint — a long code worked out from every word, shown on your certificate from the first day. When it opens, anyone can check that what you read is exactly what you wrote.

It opens for everyone

To be plain about it: on the day it opens, it opens for everyone. Anyone who visits the brick can read it, as with every brick on the wall, so write what you'd be glad for a stranger to read too.

Words meant to stay between you and a few people belong on a private brick instead. It never opens to the public, and it has no opening day — only the people you give its key to can read it.

Write to your future self

Write it for the day it opens. You choose the date in the next steps.

Your brick

1 brick · €5

Nothing is charged until you have chosen its spot.

Who can read my letter?

Until the day, only you — the wall shows the wax seal and when it opens. On the day, the seal breaks and anyone who visits the brick can read it.

Can I keep it private for good?

Not with an opening date. A private brick never opens to the public — only the people you give its key to can read it — but it has no opening day.

How far ahead can I choose?

Any day from tomorrow to fifty years away. It opens at midnight in your time zone.

Will I know when it opens?

Yes, we email you on the day. Anyone else can ask the brick for a reminder with just an email address.

Can I read it before then?

Yes, you can look inside your own letter whenever you like. You can't change it: the fingerprint would show it.

Is this a physical letter?

No, nothing is posted. It is a sealed brick on the Wall of Forever, an online wall, with a certificate you can print and keep in a drawer until the day.

How much is it?

€5 for the brick and €3 for the seal, paid once.

Write it today. Read it then.
